Build Google Maps lead lists with an AI assistant

By the MapsData team · Last updated

MapsData is a remote MCP server for Google Maps lead data: connect it to Claude, Cursor or another AI assistant, and you can ask for a lead list in plain language. The assistant finds the right business category, starts the search, and hands you a download link with each business's email, phone, website and address. It is included on every paid plan.

What you can ask for

  • "Find 500 dentists in Ontario with email addresses."
  • "How many leads do I have left this month, and what is the biggest list I can pull right now?"
  • "Build a list of roofing contractors in Texas and Oklahoma, emails only."
  • "Show my last five searches and get the download link for the plumbers one."

What it looks like

These are real responses from the MapsData MCP server, captured in October 2026.

The assistant checks the category first, because a search must use an exact Google Maps category:

> mapsdata_search_categories(query: "dentist") {"categories": ["Dentist", "Cosmetic dentist", "Pediatric dentist", "Paediatric Dentist"], "note": "Use one of these EXACTLY as the query for a scrape."}

Then the exact region names for the country:

> mapsdata_list_regions(country: "ca") {"country": "ca", "country_name": "Canada", "regions": ["Ontario", "Quebec", "British Columbia", "Alberta", ...], "note": "Submit these strings verbatim. Abbreviations are rejected."}

It then starts the search with mapsdata_start_scrape, tells you it is queued, and stops rather than polling for an hour. Ask later and it calls mapsdata_get_scrape and mapsdata_get_download_link for a 15-minute link to the CSV.

The tools

ToolWhat it does

mapsdata_get_download_linkA 15-minute link to the results

Connect it

The server address is https://mapsdata.ai/mcp.

  • Claude Code, Cursor and other clients that accept a header: create an API key in your MapsData settings and pass it as a bearer token.
  • Hosted connectors such as Claude.ai: add the server address and approve the connection on MapsData's consent screen. Approved connections show in your settings and can be disconnected at any time.

Exact setup snippets for each client are in the MCP setup guide.

Why teams use it

  • Outbound agents. An agent that writes and sends campaigns can fetch its own fresh lists instead of waiting on a person.
  • Quick research. "How many med spas in Arizona have an email?" becomes a question you ask, not a task you schedule.
  • No scraping infrastructure. There is nothing to host, no proxies, and no email finding to wire up yourself.

Prefer plain HTTP? The same searches run through the MapsData REST API. Every list has the same columns, described in the data fields guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can Claude build a lead list from Google Maps?
Yes, with an MCP server that provides lead data. Connect MapsData to Claude, Cursor or another MCP client, then ask in plain language, for example 'find 500 dentists in Ontario with emails'. The assistant checks the category, starts the search, and fetches the download link when it is done.
Which plans include the MapsData MCP server?
Every paid plan: Starter, Pro, Scale and custom plans. It uses the same API keys as the REST API, and searches an assistant starts count against the same monthly allowance.
Can an AI agent overspend my plan?
No single call can. The requested size is capped at the leads you have left this cycle, the usage tool reports the largest search allowed, and rate limits stop runaway loops. Cancelling is marked as a destructive action, so a well-behaved client asks you first.
