Does the Google Places API return emails?

By the MapsData team · Last updated

No. The Google Places API does not return email addresses. Google's Place data fields reference lists phone numbers and a website, but there is no email field in Place Details, Text Search or Nearby Search. If your outreach depends on email, the Places API gets you halfway: it tells you which businesses exist and where their websites are, and the email has to come from somewhere else.

What the Places API does return for contact details

The contact-related fields in the Places API (New) are:

  • nationalPhoneNumber and internationalPhoneNumber
  • websiteUri, the website linked from the listing

All three sit in the highest pricing tier. Google bills a request at the tier of the most expensive field in its field mask, so asking for a phone number or a website moves the whole request to the Enterprise rate (see Google Maps Platform pricing).

The 60-result ceiling

The other surprise for lead building is volume. Per Google's Text Search (New) documentation, a request returns up to 20 places per page, you page through with a nextPageToken, and the search returns a maximum of 60 results across all pages, a limit Google says is subject to change. Nearby Search (New) returns at most 20 and documents no pagination at all.

So "dentists in Texas" through one Text Search query gives you 60 dentists, not thousands. Covering a whole state means splitting it into many small areas, running a search in each, and removing the duplicates where areas overlap. That is a real engineering project, and every request is billed.

Other limits worth knowing

  • Storage. Google's Places API policies let you store a place ID indefinitely, but other Places content cannot be pre-fetched, cached or stored beyond the exceptions Google lists. A lead list you keep in a CRM is the kind of storage those rules are about, so read them before you build on the API.
  • Attribution. When you display Places content, Google requires its attribution alongside it.
  • The legacy API. Google moved the original Places API to legacy status on March 1, 2025, and it is not available to new projects (Google Maps Platform legacy products). New builds use Places API (New).

Facts on this page were checked against Google's documentation in October 2026. Google changes limits and prices, so confirm the current figures on the linked pages before you budget a project.

How to get the emails

Whatever finds the businesses, the email comes from each business's own website. The steps:

  1. Take the website for each business.
  2. Find the addresses it publishes, usually on contact, about and footer sections.
  3. Prefer named or front-desk inboxes over generic ones when there is a choice.
  4. Verify deliverability before you send, so bounces do not damage your sending domain.

Done by hand, that is a few minutes per business. MapsData does it for you: pick a business category and a place, and the list comes back with each business's email next to its phone, website and address, with no 60-result ceiling per search. If you are building this into your own software, the MapsData API returns the same lists as a download, and you can compare the cost per lead with building it yourself.

No. Google's Place data fields reference lists phone number and website fields but no email field, and that applies to Place Details, Text Search and Nearby Search alike.
How many results does Places API Text Search return?
Up to 20 per page, and Google's documentation says Text Search (New) returns a maximum of 60 results across all pages, a limit it notes is subject to change. Nearby Search (New) returns at most 20 and has no pagination.
How do I get emails for businesses found with the Places API?
Take the websiteUri for each place and look for the addresses the business publishes on its own website, then verify them before sending. Tools such as MapsData do this for you and return the email alongside the phone, website and address.
